La Vrille

Well Done

The Vrille is a farmhouse founded in 2002 by a dream project of Luciana and Hervé, two pioneers of simple life.
The basic ingredients of their generous and sincere hospitality are the vineyard’s passion of Hervé and Luciana’s passion for the kitchen.
Luciana only uses ingredients coming from her own vegetable garden or from a careful selection of small producers from the Aosta Valley.
Even non-guests of the farmhouse can enjoy Luciana’s cuisine by booking dinners and lunch’s holidays.
Hervé will be happy to reveal his work’s secrets in the small cellar, visited upon request, and to offer a wine tasting to visitors.
The farmhouse has six rooms, there are elements of the hut of the '700 and precious furniture of the Aosta Valley's tradition.
In 2010, the owners installed solar panels to complement the solar collectors, in order to be almost completely autonomous in terms of energy.
For guests with Slow Tourism Passport will be reserved a tiny and delicious homemade product (jam, a small bag of cookies, or other).

The farmhouse La Vrille is located along the Via Francigena in the municipality of Verrayes in Aosta Valley.
It is at 670 meters above sea level with panoramic views of Avic and Emilius mountains.
The Vrille is a small farmhouse, four hectares of which one and half of vineyard.
The farmhouse is equipped with everything, with chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, sheeps, geese, rabbits, a vegetable garden, two greenhouses and orchards.
Thanks to a biodynamic philosophy, the owners cultivate fruits and vegetables, without the use of pesticides, and with the aid of biological compounds for fertilization.
Among the vineyards, it is possible to find Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Fumin, Gamay and Chambave Muscat. The small winery, built into the rock at a depth of 11 meters, consists of a tasting room and one room for the refining/bottling.
The farm has six rooms renovated using ecological materials, recovering elements of the old hut of the '700 and precious furniture of the Aosta Valley’s tradition.
All mattresses are in latex on boards to ensure maximum comfort.
The rooms are equipped with private bathroom, furnished with antique furniture, ancient sheets and curtains kit of natural wool, hand-woven from the drapes of Drap of Valgrisanche.

The day starts early in the morning with the preparation of fresh bread, using flour of high quality stone ground.
Every day there are jams and different cookies and cakes, using fresh seasonal fruit from the orchard.
In the morning, it is possible to taste homemade cow's milk yogurt, Alpine cheeses, butter and fresh milk, homegrown eggs, meats of Valle d'Aosta, honey in pure high altitude, juice and coffee locally roasted.
The owners also offer a delicious selection of creative homemade jams.
Dinner is a unique moment to enjoy the traditional cuisine, revisited by the creativity that Luciana explain in person, as is her custom.
The menu follows the seasons and is different every day, made up of what the vegetable garden and the farm’s animals offered.
The pasta is always homemade and the wise use of local herbs, combined with a selection of 16 different peppers from all over the world, makes particularly interesting dishes.
There are always several wines of the farmhouse’s production (choice of five red, 1 white and 1 raisin) to match with various savory and sweet foods.
Those who suffer from food intolerances have a special attention with a specific menu to agree with Luciana.
Some examples of dishes that it will find on the menu:
