Ripostena Country House

Well Done

We have always believed in environmental sustainability by respecting our territory during the restoration works we only used local materials and craftsmanship. We installed solar panels and we use rain collected in our small artificial lake to irrigate our gardens. We recycle and we encourage our guests to do the same. For internal lighting we use energy efficient light bulb. We promote responsible tourism by helping our guests to get in contact with the local community and with its lesser known attractions. We suggest to visit art and cultural places which are numerous in the area, especially small villages the most authentic attractions of the territory. We inform our guests about easy and/or more engaging trails, doable by foot and by horseback riding to discover nature and the beautiful Natural Park of Montagnole, where our country house is located. Upon request we organize tastings of local typical products and we recommend the visit to the small farms and teaching farms of the area. We will offer a welcome gift to the Slow Tourism Passport holders and based on the season we will evaluate the possibility to grant discounts.

Ripostena Country House is on a hill  inside the Natural Park Mantognola Senese. It is hidden in the wood but is close to Siena, San Gimignano, Firenze and the Chianti area. It is managed with passion by Martina whose family ransomed the old abandoned village to bring it back to life thanks to a careful restoration work which lasted more than 6 years. The apartments of different sizes and typology and the independent farmstead still part of the hamlet are furnished with simplicity and with a style that preserves their rural history. Their names recall the past use of the buildings: Fienile (barn) and Frantoio (olive mill). Every apartment is made of one or two rooms, with one or two bathrooms, living room and an equipped kitchen; there is also private outdoor space with a terrace or an arcade. The outside space is equipped with table and chairs, beach chairs and barbecues. From the hamlet and its swimming pool there is a spectacular view on Chianti’s hills and San Gimignano’s towers. Our guests can access to all common areas: an evocative stone -made swimming pool with a panoramic view, 5 hectares of blooming gardens and woods of oak and chestnut trees, a picnic area and a playground, a recreation room with pin pong and table football and a panoramic terrace with unforgettable sunsets on Tuscan countryside and on San Gimignano’s towers.

Places like Siena, Florence and San Gimignano, known throughout the world, do not need introduction. Our territory is rich in hamlets rarely visited like Casole d’Elasa and Certaldo which are  full of history and culture and they are certainly worth a visit. San Galgano abbey with the adjacent parish church that contains San Galgano’s sword fixed in the rock can be a good destination for both children and adults. Another awesome place are the ruins of Castiglione Balzetti  from the XIII century , unknown to the majority of travelers, called “Castiglione that only God knows” because of its isolated and wild context. The Medieval Castle of Celsa with its beautiful gardens is one of the jewel of Montagnola Senese, organizes free guided tours. The thermal bath of Petriolo  is free to the public and its water flows at 43° C degree: it’s the ideal place to relax in a unique natural environment.  The coast of Tuscany with its numerous beaches awarded “Bandiera blu” (Blue flag) is about one hour and an half by car.
