La Ciliegia Green

Well Done

Antonio, Luca and Roberto, the owners of La Ciliegia Green B&B choose to use only environmentally friendly and organic products both for cleaning and for preparing breakfast.
In particular, soaps and detergents are 100% natural and carry the Ecolabel certification.
At the same time, they are actively engaged in recycling especially due to the fact that in downtown Bologna it is possible to collect organic waste to produce mulch and to ensure more effective recycling practices.
Amongst the initiatives promoted by the B&B, special attention has been given to young artists and non profit associations with the activation of special offers depending of course on the availability of the rooms.
They offer, for example, free hospitality during special cultural events regarding the conservatory and literary associations, from theaters to festivals on eco sustainability, vegan diets, animal rights and organic and biodynamic production.
For the guests of Ciliegia Green only km0 products are selected: the owners buy directly from local producers such as the associations Campi Aperti” and “Genuino Clandestino” (a community fighting for food sustainability).
For handmade and raw material productions not present locally, the “Small shops of Altromercato” are chosen.
They are one of the main cooperative Fair Trade consortiums in Italy.
The B&B La Ciliegia Green is happy to provide a 10% discount to Slow Tourism passport holders all year long with the exception of September, March and during relevant fairs and cultural events.
The owners will also welcome the guests in possession of a Slow Tourism passport with a jar of homemade jam.

Ciliegia Green is managed by three young men: Antonio, Luca and Roberto.
The house is located in the heart of Bologna: Marsale street n.32, between the Jewish ghetto and Zamboni street, the most relevant University campus.
Piazza Maggiore is 5 minutes away and the two towers are only 400 meters away.
The B&B is located in a historical building from the XIX century.
The views, the internal court and the cloister are under the surveillance of the Italian institution in charge of the Fine Arts.
The entire apartment has been restored by Antonio, Luca and Roberto with recyclable materials and by trying to reuse materials as much as possible and by using only environmentally friendly and organic products.
The two bedrooms are quite spacious, with ceilings more than 4 meters high.
The living room is at the complete disposal of the guests and represents the ideal room to relax, read one of the many books available or listening to music.
Antonio, Luca and Roberto work hard to offer their guests a very high quality breakfast.
For this reason they are always engaged in trying improving it, also thanks to guests’ advice.
There is a vast selection of cereal, biscuits, juices, honey, agaves syrup, rice malt – all organic products, in the majority vegan, and also some gluten-free choices.
On top of 20 different kinds of infusions and teas that are strictly organic, only seasonal fruit is offered and, when possible, KM0.
There is also classic yogurt (made with cow milk) or vegan (with soy).
For breakfast there are several alternatives to lactose obtained from plants: soy, rice and oat milk.
The coffee served is the only one commercialized by fair trade. Jams are homemade and also the bread, made with durum wheat or kamut, with rye and spelt.
To complete breakfast dried fruit: from Sicilian almonds to Brazilian nuts, dehydrated prunes and apples.

Ciliegia Green is located in downtown Bologna, the ideal city for any kind of moving experience.
Amongst the endless tourism itineraries, two that are very evocative, characteristic and located nearby are suggested.
The first one is a visit to the sanctuary of San Luca, an itinerary that goes from the center to the sanctuary, typical destinations for religious pilgrimage linked to the devotion to the consecrated image of Beata Vergine.
It is possible to discover the colonnades of Bologna, which are nominated as Unesco World Heritage sites.
The colonnade that connects Porta Saragozza to the Sanctuary of La Madonna di San Luca is the longest in the world, 3.5 km, and is formed by 666 arches, each of which is marked with a progressive number.
The first 306 link Porta Saragozza to the Arc of  Meloncello, while the last 360 are located in the part that goes from Meloncello to the hill of La Guardia.
These last ones are spaced out by 15 small chapels that illustrate the mystery of the Rosary.
The itinerary foresees an excursion in the Talon park.
Leaving from Piazza Maggiore and passing the Fontana del Nettuno it is possible to reach the Church of S. Martino di Casalecchio di Reno on Porrettana street by bys number 20.
It continues along the path of Bregoli inside Park della Chiusa (called Talon Park because of the name of the Villa Sampieri Talon that overlooks the park) where it is possible to reach the Sanctuary of San Luca.
The way back downhill is along the colonnade that takes to the Arch of Meloncello and through Saragozza street.
By passing Porta Saragozza there is the arrival to Collegio di Spagna and from de' Carbonesi street through the pedestrian route in Massimo d'Azeglio street is the arrival in Piazza Maggiore.
The second itinerary is to San Michele in Bosco, an imposing architectonical complex which includes the church and the adjacent former monastery of Olivetani, one of the most grandiose and pleasant in Italy.
It is established in one of the most panoramic places in the hills just before Bologna and its parvise forms a splendid terrace on the city and on the valley up to the mountains.
It is possible to arrive in San Michele in Bosco trough the first trail of the city  hills, whose opening was possible thanks to the work done by the Hiking Council (Consulta per l'Escursionismo).
About 4 km long, with a difference in altitude of 250 meters, the itinerary connects the Parco di San Michele in Bosco with that of  Forte Bandiera, goes back to the valleys of the river Aposa and to its tributary Ro Costarella, shortening through the hillside of San Vittore Mountain and Berbiano hill.
From Giardino Remo Scoto in Codivilla street, it is possible to enter the park and go up to the panoramic viewpoint of San Michele in Bosco.
Through the Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli it is possible to reach San Vittore street and to continue until intersection with Barbiano street and then Forte Bandiera (300 meters).
