The farmhouse has been recently refurbished in order to show a typical Friuli farmers’ home atmosphere. The farmhouse has a room equipped for disabled people. Several are the solutions for a low-impact holiday, such as: thermal insulation of the walls, floor and of the roof; a photovoltaic plant to produce energy and heating; separate waste collection. 80% of the food is home-made or bought locally, such as: pork meat, vegetables, fruits and wines.
La Rosta farmhouse is part of an ancient farmhouse of XVIII century, and since 1812 it has been a guesthouse. It is composed of 7 rooms, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere offering a delicious breakfast with typical products, with a view over the Mortesina waterway and over the owners’ vineyard. On the first floor, you will taste typical local dishes and you may admire the tools, utensils and photos which are a mark of farmers’ lives in XIX century.
You will taste the delicious home-made cold cuts and other local typical dishes, like Jota soup, Frico (with potatoes and cheese), Strudel (with apples) and Refosco chilled desert. A meal costs around € 23, beverages included. We also have a wide selection of wines: Refosco, Merlot, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. We can organise Friuli-Aquileia DOC wine taste excursions.
La Rosta farmhouse is the ideal starting point to visit the following cities: Aquileia, which is a testimony of the past Roman times; Grado , which is famous for its beaches and is a thermal resort; Pamanova (a fortress-city) and Strassoldo (a medieval village).
Also the natural reservation around Isonzo’s river is worthwhile visiting.
