Masseria La Guardata

Well Done

The farmhouse La Guardata offers its guests numerous opportunities to taste food and wines from the Molise Region. The flair and freshness of the food prepared by the chef, Raffaele Manzi known for his refined tastes and creativity, offer dishes that are “masterpieces”, authentic  trips to rediscover culinary and local traditions.

Guided tours to the cultivations practiced at farmhouses are organized and especially to the fields where cereals (wheat, corn, sunflower), tomatoes, beet sugar, and other vegetables destined mainly to be dehydrated grow.

The farmhouse is located on top of the valley of the Sinarca River, in the middle of a big plum plantation that blooms wonderfully during the spring. This efflorescence is highly appreciated by local beekeepers for honey production. La Guardata comes from the restoration work of a farm built at the end of XIX century. The original buildings were recovered as well as the beautifully furniture in liberty style.

The outside is carefully taken care to ensure to the guests access to green areas to relax and to enjoy walks along the lake (which is part of the property), to the river and to the small woods. Lawns, swings and slides allow healthy fun for children. Two old silos, used in the past to store forages, make the farmhouse unique and testify to its ancient origins. At the Guardata it is possible to organize parties to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms or any other event. For this purpose, rooms can be rented or the restaurant services organized.

La Guardata is equipped with two rooms dedicated to the restaurant which are located in the area in which the stables used to be. Dishes and typical products of Molise cooking are served.

For breakfast, homemade sweets and jams are offered. For lunch and dinner meals have a cost included between 25 and 30€. To drink, in addition to the traditional beverages, Mr. Giuseppe, the owner of the farmhouse suggests the house wine.

The Guardata is only 5 minutes away from the beach of Termoli (CB) and from the port for the Tremiti Islands. It is the ideal starting point for excursions in Gargano, the internal area of Molise with its beautiful views and archeological sites.  Not to miss in the area is the town of Larino, which is relevant in the southern Frentani territory due to the various prehistoric and proto-historic finds; the sea destination of Vasto, the cities of Campobasso and Isernia and the old Sabellians city of Agnone with its community Staffoli.

For hiking lovers, not to miss is Montenero di Bisaccia, a typical hilly village next to the sea and at the foothills of Matese massif, the town of San Massimo that in its highest part is at 1429 meters above sea level hosts the summer and winter tourism destination Campitello Matese.

Six bedrooms with bathrooms are available at La Guardata. They are furnished with antique furniture and authentic pieces – sail roofs, arches and stonework walls. The only modern accessories are television and air conditioning.

In the high season the cost for a double room is 80€, during low season 60€. These prices refer only to B&B accommodation, with breakfast included. Internet is available upon request.
